The planet Saturn

On the Planet Trail
The plaque is located on the beach side just behind the end of the lakeside promenade at the northern entrance to the former Best Western Hanse Hotel. The Leutturm cannot be seen from here. To see it, you must first walk about halfway along the beach entrance. Orient yourself at the lowest of the 4 lighthouse windows to compare the sun.

The planet Saturn
Saturn stands out from the other planets due to its particularly pronounced rings, which are visible even through small telescopes. Saturn is the last planet that can be easily recognised with the naked eye.

The second largest planet in our solar system is similar to Jupiter. However, at 95 Earth masses, it has only 30% of Jupiter's mass. It has the lowest density of all the planets in the solar system, even lower than that of water.

After the "Voyager 1" space probe flew past Saturn in 1980, and in particular thanks to the Cassini-Huygens probe, the many high-resolution images of the planet, its rings and moons provided new scientific insights. Several new moons were subsequently discovered and the ring turned out to be composed of around 100,000 individual rings, which largely consist of water ice and small chunks of rock.
The innermost begins around 7,000 kilometres above the surface of Saturn and has a diameter of 134,000 kilometres, while the outermost has a diameter of 960,000 kilometres.

Of the more than 60 moons of Saturn, Titan is the largest. With a diameter of 5150 kilometres, it is the second largest moon in the solar system and therefore even larger than the planet Mercury. It is the only moon to have a dense atmosphere and lakes of liquid methane on its surface.
