Audioguide Rostock - Station 7: Lange Straße

The street "Lange Straße" was first mentioned in a document in 1274. It is therefore one of Rostock's oldest streets. During the bombing raids in 1942, the street was almost completely destroyed. Immediately after the war, there were many plans to rebuild the city and the street.

On 30 January 1953, the foundation stone was laid in Lange Straße. The closed architecture follows the example of Soviet socialist urban planning. The entire street is 61 metres wide and is under monumental protection.
