Guided kayak tour in Rostock's city harbour

Let us take you on a change of perspective!

We will explore Rostock's eventful history with you, from the first Slavic castle to the present day. In the city harbour, you can discover many milestones, big and small, of our old Hanseatic city. Because it all began on the water! Climb aboard and experience a city tour with a difference. You are the protagonist and paddle at your own speed in a single or double kayak.

The group gathers at prominent meeting points to learn interesting facts about Rostock. Take in the impressive backdrop of the city from a distance! The Unterwarnow offers wonderful urban and maritime views as well as plenty of nature. With a bit of luck, you might spot kingfishers and even sea eagles.

Our city paddle tours take you through the city harbour and the Petri district for two hours. Our kayaks are very stable and ideal for beginners and novices. You don't need to have any paddling experience.

icon-info Details
The tour starts from Haargraben along the still narrow Warnow towards the city harbour. At the Holzhalbinsel, the Warnow widens considerably and you get a wonderful view of the city harbour. The tour leads along the Dierkow Bay and the Gehlsdorf shore to the Haedge peninsula with its imposing cranes. From the Haedge peninsula, the route then returns along the city harbour. Past the icebreaker Stephan Janzen and traditional and museum ships as well as numerous pleasure craft. Take a look at the warehouses and buildings of well-known companies, such as AIDA Cruises or Centogene, which have their headquarters in Rostock.
Introduction to paddling and safety on the water by a trained paddling guide
Life jacket, spray hood, waterproof boat hatch (included with guided paddle tour)
Take part in a guided paddling tour organised by Stadtpaddeln Rostock: in the morning or afternoon or especially in the moonlight or sunset through Rostock's city harbour.

And if you like, bring your binoculars. Maybe you'll spot sea eagles, kingfishers and other water birds on the tour?

If you are arriving by car or coach, it is best to take the A19 motorway from Berlin or the A20 motorway from Lübeck. Take the motorway exit "Rostock-Süd" via "Tessiner Straße" and "Mühlendamm". At the end of "Mühlendamm", turn right into "Warnowstraße". Then it is only about 500 metres to the street "Am Haargraben".
The following car parks are located near the meeting point:

  • Parking "Petrischanze": located below the Petrikirche, 61 car and 9 bus parking spaces, public toilets available, approx. 200 metres on foot
  • "Östliche Altstadt" multi-storey car park: located below the Petri Church, 260 parking spaces, approx. 200 metres on foot
  • "Holzhalbinsel" multi-storey car park: located at the EDEKA shopping centre on the Holzhalbinsel, parking spaces, approx. 300 metres on foot
The meeting point "Am Haargraben" is easily accessible by train and bus. Tram lines 1, 2, 3 and 4 and bus F2 take you to the "Gerberbruch" or "Stadthafen" stops. From these stops, it is only a 300 metre walk to the meeting point.

You can also take bus lines 22, 23 and F1 to the "Am Bagehl" stop. From here, it is about 500 metres on foot to the meeting point.
