Cycle tour: From Neuer Markt to the Rostock Heath to Schnatermann

The Rostock Heath, one of Germany's largest coastal forests, is just under an hour's cycle ride from the centre of the Hanseatic and university city of Rostock: From the Neuer Markt, the route heads north-east via the city harbour with a magnificent panoramic view of the historic old town and the Warnow river through the district of Dierkow. The city is soon behind us and the tour leads through idyllic villages towards the coastal forest. The destination is the Schnatermann with its boat landing stage (ferry connection to Warnemünde), inn, bathing area and view of the Breitling natural harbour, home to the navy and the overseas port. The return journey follows the same route or the tour can be continued by boat or bike to Warnemünde (via Markgrafenheide and Hohe Düne).
