Cycle tour: From Warnemünde to Graal-Müritz

You start at Warnemünde railway station and go through the subway to the ferry that takes you to Hohe Düne. This offers a magnificent view of the open sea as well as dockyards, ferries and impressive cruise ships heading for or just leaving the harbour. Once you reach the other shore, cycle along the tarmac cycle path via Markgrafenheide to Graal-Müritz. The Baltic Sea spa is famous for its rhododendron park and the 275-hectare, still completely intact coastal moor with its diverse flora and fauna. Cycle via Hinrichshagen through the Rostock Heath back to Hohe Düne.

Start your tour at the tourist information centre. From here, cross the Old Bridge on the Alter Strom, drive past the train station and take the subway to get to the ferry harbour. Take the Warnemünde ferry to get to Hohe Düne. Follow the Hohe Düne road until you reach Markgrafenheide. Stay on the road and drive through the village. About one kilometre after leaving the village, turn left onto the path. Cycle through the Rostock Heath to Graal-Müritz. Once you arrive at the Baltic Sea spa, you can enjoy the view from the pier or enjoy the blooming rhododendron park.

To get back to Warnemünde, take the Torfbrücke country road. After about ten kilometres, turn left into Warnemünder Straße and head towards Markgrafenheide. Halfway along the road, turn left onto Schnatermannweg, pass the junction and you will reach Stuthof. Stay on the road and follow it until you reach the crossroads again. To get to Markgrafenheide, turn left onto Schnatermannweg again. At the next junction, turn left to return to Markgrafenheide. On the Hohe Düne road, you are then on the direct route to Warnemünde.

The rhododendron park in Graal-Müritz displays a beguiling world of scents and colours during the flowering season in May and June and is definitely worth a visit.
You can reach the Hanseatic city of Rostock from Hamburg/Lübeck via the A20 motorway. Coming from Berlin, take the A19 motorway.

Rostock can be reached from all over Germany via Hamburg and Berlin. From Rostock main station, take the S-Bahn to Warnemünde.

Bus:

Distance buses run several times a day from Hamburg and Berlin to Rostock and sometimes also to Warnemünde Werft.
